Our animals are comprised of several different lines, some well known and some not so well known. We are breeding for conformation, density,
fineness and staple length and every winter we carefully assess each individual animal’s qualities and make our breeding decisions to
continually improve on their positive traits. We do not believe that all boys are destined to be herdsires nor do we believe that all
females make good mothers – we make some tough decisions every year but will not sell our culls as breeding stock.
It is our practice to allow our girls a little extra time to mature, consequently we don’t usually breed them until the year they turn
two and in some cases, three. We expect this should allow their bodies to finish developing before they’re subjected to the demands of
annual criation for the next 15-20 years. We realize that this may put us behind in our production and that many breeders don’t follow
this philosophy but feel that we owe it to our animals to give them the best start that we possibly can.
In order to maintain a smaller herd most of our breeding stock is for sale – this doesn’t mean that we want to sell all of our animals just
that we’d like be able to continue improving and diversifying our genetics without overstocking our pastures. Discounts may apply to multiple
purchases. Fibre boys or companion animals are sometimes available. Breeding stock is guaranteed to produce viable offspring. Please contact
us by email or phone if you’d like a copy of our current sales offering.
BVD testing is conducted annually on each new cria crop and most of our herd members have been tested. To date all results have been
negative.
Upon the purchase of any of our animals you will be provided with complete records including general health and maintenance, breeding
histories and fibre statistics.
Several of our boys are willing and able to provide stud services. Visiting females and cria must be healthy, free of communicable diseases
and confirmed not BVD PI. Our breeding fees include a live birth guarantee of 72 hours and 60 days of agistment. We will ask that you sign an
acknowledgment/disclosure/liability agreement and feel that these are to the benefit of both parties-if you’d like to view a sample of our
agreement please ask. |
